Not a summary, not a sample chapter. One complete cancer diagnosis, taught exactly as it appears in the 15th Edition: the surgical procedures and what each one leaves behind, treatment side effects, contraindications, and how to program around all of it.
Why colorectal. It is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer, one of the most likely to walk into your studio, and one almost no general certification prepares you for. A resection changes core function, abdominal loading and what the client can tolerate after eating. Most trainers do not know that, and it does not come up until it matters.
What happens when you finish it. You will know how to work safely with one of them. That is the point — you will also know, precisely, how much you did not know before you started. The other twenty-six are written the same way.
It sits in the CETI Learning Blog, which is free to join. No payment and no commitment — you create an account and the section is there, along with everything else we publish free.
Sessions from OncoVie® Cancer Exercise Specialists worldwide on fitness, longevity and breast cancer awareness. A way into the subject and the community without committing to a qualification.
A Pilates-based rehabilitative program for cancer recovery, written by June Kahn with Andrea Leonard. Mat work you can teach anywhere — no reformer, no studio, no equipment beyond a mat.
June Kahn is the 2009 IDEA World Instructor of the Year, a former Reebok World Master Trainer, and a PhysicalMind Institute certified Pilates trainer with more than forty years in dance and fitness. She founded June Kahn’s Bodyworks in Boulder, Colorado, developed the AeroPilates® Basic Reformer and Pilates Bowflex® programs, and is a subject matter expert for the ACE certification exam. ACE, AFAA and ACSM certified.
She wrote this program after her own diagnosis with non-Hodgkin’s follicular lymphoma and two years of chemotherapy, through which she kept teaching. “Pilates was my savior.” She is a Cancer Exercise Specialist herself, and cancer free.
The Pilates Mat handbook, written by June, is included with the course and also available in hard copy.
Foundational exercise programming across 25+ cancer types, with an exam. This is a certificate, not a certification — a way into the subject at low cost and low risk.
Nothing is wasted if you go further. The full $299 is credited against the price of the CES Advanced Qualification — so starting here costs you nothing extra if you later certify.
Adding coaching to your CES expertise. A self-study course taught by Andrea Leonard — how to build coaching services alongside the training you already deliver, so clients stay longer and refer more often.
Included in the Everything Package. Worth taking separately only if you already hold a qualification and want the business side without the rest of the bundle.
A focused specialty in post-surgical breast cancer recovery using the BOSU® balance trainer, with a 90-question examination. Developed over two decades in collaboration with oncologists — and endorsed by the inventor of the BOSU® itself.
“Andrea’s work encompasses two decades of development with top oncologists to provide a cancer recovery program that embraces all of these aspects and more. This program is without a doubt the most comprehensive and individualized program on the market.”

The entire 15th Edition core curriculum — the same four modules, 600+ pages and 26 cancer types plus childhood cancer as the flagship qualification — with the programming taught through yoga. A full alternative to the flagship, not a top-up. Specialists who already hold the flagship can add it as a supplement.
Written by Stephanie Adams Ruff, E-RYT 500, YACEP — Yoga Alliance’s highest registration, with authority to issue continuing education to registered teachers. ACE-Certified Personal Trainer and Orthopedic Exercise Specialist.
Founder of Flow Yoga Studio in Hood River, Oregon, where she has directed a Registered Yoga School since 2003, and creator of the Sustainable Asana Yoga Foundation. Thirty years teaching, and a cancer exercise specialist herself.
Read part of the handbook before you enroll. The sampler includes the full contents, considerations for teaching students in treatment or recovery, the relaxation-response and pranayama chapters, a foundational pose in full detail, and the corrective-exercise section on round shoulder syndrome after mastectomy.
Co-written and taught by Portia Page, NCPT, Principal Educator for Balanced Body. The entire 15th Edition core curriculum — the same four modules, 600+ pages and 26 cancer types plus childhood cancer as the flagship — with the programming taught through Pilates. A full alternative to the flagship, not a top-up.
Instruction from Portia Page, NCPT — a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and continuing-education provider through the NPCP, the same body that awards this course its 40 credits. Education Curriculum Coordinator and Principal Educator for Balanced Body, a Master Instructor there since 2006, and author of Pilates Illustrated. Thirty years in the field, with STOTT Pilates comprehensive training and ACE, NASM and AFAA certification.
She co-wrote the Pilates curriculum with Andrea, teaches the recorded two-day workshop alongside her, and filmed every apparatus session. She also holds this qualification herself — so the Pilates material comes from someone who sat the same examination the course prepares you for.
“This incredible course looks at the cancer journey from every angle possible. As a Pilates fitness professional I am now qualified to prescribe personalised movement for a cancer survivor while also understanding the long term benefits.”
An ode to my late Mum.

The flagship. Four modules covering 26 cancer types plus childhood cancer, taught by the person who built the field. Released August 2026 with updated treatment protocols, nutrition science, new sections on complementary and alternative medicine and culinary medicine, and new research on GLP-1 medications.
The same qualification, taught live. Weekly webinars with Andrea across a month-long cohort, plus business support — for people who would rather not study alone.
Every qualification, every handbook, and the personalized business launch plan — the only place the practice-building work is included.
Bought separately, the same contents come to more than $4,500.
Buy once and the materials are yours. You have 180 days to work through the curriculum and sit the exam, then lifetime access to everything on any device. The Everything Package allows a full year.
Payment plans are available on the CES Advanced Qualification at six monthly payments of $168. On a plan, the final exam unlocks when your last payment clears.
If it isn’t right for you, there’s a 14-day refund window, provided you haven’t moved past Module 1.
Qualifications run two years. Renewal is not a fee and a form — it is the current edition and a 50-question examination on it.
Across much of the fitness industry, recertification means accumulating credits and paying a fee. Nobody re-tests you, so “currently certified” means you kept paying — and someone who qualified in 2018 holds the same credential as someone who qualified last month, on material that has since changed.
Oncology moves too fast for that. Immunotherapy, GLP-1 medications, surgical technique, lymphedema evidence: the 15th Edition is a different book from the 13th, and the difference is what your client’s treatment actually looks like now.
So you receive the 15th Edition in full and sit a 50-question renewal examination on it, at the same 80% pass mark. That is harder — and it is the reason a cancer center will refer to you, because your credential proves what you know today rather than what you knew when you first sat down.
Renewal keeps your directory listing live. Let it lapse and the listing is hidden automatically.
Not a teaching assistant. Not a help desk. Andrea.
Most certifications this size route you to a support portal staffed by people who have never worked with a cancer patient. If you get stuck on lymphatic drainage sequencing, or you have a real client in front of you with a bilateral mastectomy and a shoulder that will not move, that system has nothing for you.
Here you email Andrea and Andrea replies. She wrote all four modules, she has taught them in person on four continents, and she still trains individual clients — so the answer you get is the answer of someone who did it last week, not someone reading from the manual you already have.
That access does not end when you pass. Graduates come back years later with a case they have not seen before, and it is the same email address.
The CES Advanced Qualification at $999 is the flagship and the one most specialists hold. Read the free colorectal section first — it is one of the 26 cancer types in that exact course, so you’re sampling the real thing rather than a trailer.
Level 1 is a certificate, not a certification. It covers foundational programming across 25+ cancer types with an exam, at $299, and carries no CEUs. The Advanced Qualification is the full credential — 600+ pages, four modules, 19 core videos, pediatric oncology, assessment protocol, lymphedema management and nutrition — approved for CEUs by all nine bodies.
Yes. The full $299 you spend on Level 1 is credited against the price of the CES Advanced Qualification. Starting small costs you nothing if you decide to go further.
No. Each is the complete OncoVie® Cancer Exercise Specialist curriculum taught through that modality — a full alternative, not an add-on. Pick the one matching how you already teach. If you already hold the flagship, either can be added as a supplement.
It’s the only place the personalized business launch plan appears — your local market analysis, tiered referral contact list, service and pricing structures and outreach scripts — plus three 1-on-1 business coaching sessions with Greg Hendrickson, CETI’s CMO and Business Advisor and a 2-year directory listing. If your question is “will I actually get clients,” that’s the package that answers it.
Same qualification either way. Self-study suits people who prefer their own pace; the Zoom cohort adds weekly live webinars with Andrea, business support and a peer group. Cohorts start monthly.
No. A degree in a health or fitness field, relevant work experience, and an accredited fitness certification are all recommended, but none of them are required. The curriculum assumes a working knowledge of anatomy, exercise programming and client assessment, which is where that background helps.
If you want to go down this path without that experience, say so when you enroll — we provide additional educational support to get you to the point where the material lands. Nobody is turned away for not having started somewhere else first.
It’s one complete cancer type from the full qualification — the real curriculum, at no cost.
